===== Rational for selecting Dokuwiki =====

Three reasons have motivated the selection of Dokuwiki as Impilo's documentation platform:

  * First, Dokuwiki does not require the use of a relational database system. This is an important point for documentation portability.
  * Second, a Dokuwiki installation is a vast collection of text files, another strong point for portability.
  * Thirdly (anf finally!), a [[http://www.dokuwiki.org/plugins|large plugin ecosystem]] exists, which allow for easy expansion of the functionality of this documentation project.

At present (06/2013), this site uses the //Weatherwax//  version since the large majority of plugins is now officially compatible. Those who are not are actually working just fine anyway :-)
